A blurry but awesome reaction to bananas & pineapple. And speaking of baby food, I've officially taken the next step in hippiedom. I'm making my own now, although that's really nothing to shout about at the 9 month mark. It's more a modification of our food than "making" baby food. I'm definitely not busting out the blender. Tonight she'll be getting some mashed potatoes and shredded chicken breast. Please, please, stop the applause. I know it's quite a feat, but really you're making me blush! Anyways, for whatever reason I got all freaked out last night about the sugar and sodium in the Gerber stuff, and I must say it was a rather irrational response that kept me up. I think instead of making my own baby food I should just take a xanax.
http://galtime.com/blog/parenting/42766/11026/fighting-my-mothering-instincts-tale-growing-and-growing-pair# This article really resonated with me, as some of the things I do still get the stink eye from some people. I am sort of tired of the way I answer people when they question some of them, so I think I'll give myself a homework assignment: to come up with a little "speech" that accurately conveys my feelings and reasons for some of my decisions yet leaves little room for giving a crap about someone's response to it. I think I still feel like I'm defending myself sometimes. What bothers me is not people's reactions or comments or questions or insinuations. What bothers me is my reaction. Arg! I get so upset with myself that I can't just grow a pair! Anyways, I'll let you know if my other testicle descends. Edited to Add: I certainly don't think I do a whole bunch of "weird" things. I think EVERY mom struggles with this after the birth of their first child, no matter what childrearing practices she uses. What I'm saying is, I'm not setting myself apart from the masses necessarily by writing, "...some of the things I do..." I think everyone has similar "things" that might get the stink eye from others. That's all.
"nbhn'c ,,/' " And I think she did a great job :0)
Having a hard time with her growing so much lately. In February she wasn't even barrel rolling. Since then she's army crawled, regular crawled, and pulled herself up on the couch. She's going through a growth spurt now, too. She nursed maybe 5 times during the night last night and then ate two jars of babyfood this morning! Takes after her daddy. Oh, and I can't forget moving into the big girl car seat. Man...I just had a good routine going, too! I will say this--I did a fantastic job of baby proofing our living room.
Our new pergo floors are in, HALLELUJAH! Char pulled herself up on the couch for the first time last night :) I found a cocroach on the floor three nights ago and almost barfed. (so far we haven't seen any of his friends, but still calling a bug guy) Char's two big ol' front teeth are about to cut through, but she's surprisingly chipper! My dog, Banjo, is about to be stripped of his vocal cords if he doesn't stop barking at everything. Nothing sounds so delicious as a back rub right now. Matt rubbed my shoulders last night and his hands started hurting because they were so tight. I have a massage waiting for me, but gotta make sure Matt can watch the bebe while I go. It snowed here yesterday while the sun was shining. Ok, think that's about it.
